5 Ways to Survive Christmas While Pregnant

5 Ways to Survive Christmas While Pregnant

I have had two babies in January, so I can completely sympathise when I see a heavily pregnant women looking hot and flustered while trying to manoeuvre a trolley through Christmas crowds.  Here are 5 tips I learnt (the hard way) about how to survive Christmas while being pregnant.

1.      Be organised:  If being organised is not your best virtue, change that now!  Start writing lists of what needs to be done.  Start with one for people you need to get gifts for including any ideas that you have.

2.       Shop around:  Once you have some ideas, get online and shop around for the best price.  This way, you can go straight to that shop instead of walking around for hours (which is a great way to get kankles!)  Don’t forget that most places also do gift vouchers  (including Total Bag Envy!) which is always a great gift idea for those that are hard to buy for.

3.       Delegate:  If you have too much on your to-do list, don’t be afraid to ask for help.  If Christmas dinner is at your place, see if all guests can each bring a dish or two.  This will save you so much time and your family won’t mind helping you out.

4.      Be selective:  Christmas time means Christmas parties.  If you feel up to it, go to them all and have a great time; but don’t feel guilty saying no if you are starting to get tired.  Pick and choose the parties you really want to go to and decline the others.  Your friends will understand.

5.      Stay cool: OMG the heat of summer combined with being pregnant!  Try and stay as cool as you can.  Crank the aircon, sit down and put your feet up (your kankles will thank you for it) and drink lots and lots of water.

While you may feel you are missing out on some things being pregnant over Christmas, such as eating certain foods, and no alcohol; you will get the best Christmas present in the end with a little baby in the New Years!  That my friends, makes it all worth it.  Merry Christmas!
